We exclusively use a soft, mineral-based cleaning media (Kieserite) specifically designed and guaranteed to clean pool tile without damage and NEVER USE GLASS BEAD on pool tile.

Scale build up on tiles is common due to weather conditions in Arizona. Typically the older the pool water, the more scale may be present. We recommend draining the pool when completion the scale removal, but is not required. We can lower the water 3 to 4” , clean, the refill.
By agreeing to McCallum’s Pool Service & Repair’s pool tile scale removal service, you acknowledge and understand the following:
- Potential for Tile Damage: While we take utmost care, the process of removing scale buildup may result in minor scratches or etching on your pool tiles, especially on older or delicate glass tile types.
- No Guarantee of Complete Removal: Depending on the severity and composition of the scale, complete removal may not be possible. We will strive to remove as much scale as practicable with our methods.
- Pool Water Level Adjustment: You may need to adjust your pool water level before and after the cleaning process to ensure proper access to the tile surfaces.
- Tile Inspection Required: We recommend a thorough inspection of your pool tiles prior to service to identify any pre-existing damage or potential issues that could be exacerbated by the cleaning process. Assessing the tile when the pool is full and again when the water has been dropped below the tile line and had time to dry Pool Draining: To provide the most thorough scale removal and media clean-up, it is preferred to have the body of water completely drained. Refilling with fresh water you will enjoy an extended period before the scale starts to form at the water perimeter again. A pool drain waiver will also need to be signed prior to water removal.
- Liability for Damage: While we take all necessary precautions, we cannot be held liable for any damage to your pool tiles that may occur during the cleaning process beyond reasonable wear and tear.
- Impregnator Sealants: Upon request, a color enhancing grout and tile impregnator sealant can be applied to further deter reaccumulating scale formations on the perimeter tile.
In most cases, media blasting is the safest and most efficient method of cleaning pool, spa and water feature tile and natural rock from calcium and hard water mineral deposits. Media blasting can remove most if not all the calcium and hard water mineral deposits, it is not always perfect. We do not claim to provide you with new tile or guarantee any results. Although the cases are rare, occasionally, tile can crack or chip, especially if there is already wear on tile or rock work. We are not responsible for any cracks or chips on any surface, or any other damage because of media blasting.
